wheelblastIT Manual – Installation

Installation #

  • Start by installing the wheelblastIT frame assembly per the instructions listed in the section 3.3.
  • Next, mount the innovateIT control cabinet in the equipment room per the instructions listed in section 3.4
  • Place the tire eye sensor/tire pad switch per the instructions in section 3.3.

Wiring Frame Assembly to the Control Box #

  • Run provided sensor cables from innovateIT control cabinet to each wheel blaster assembly. Do not run the sensor cable parallel to any high voltage lines.
    • Connect the sensor cables at the control box
      • Drivers’ side connections in innovateIT control cabinet
        • Brown to fuse 2 on terminal strip (fig. 1.0)
        • Blue to 502 on terminal strip (fig. 1.1)
        • Black to 907 on terminal strip (fig. 1.2)
      • Passenger’s side connection in innovateIT control cabinet
        • Brown to fuse 3 on terminal strip (fig. 1.0)
        • Blue to 502 on terminal strip (fig. 1.1)
        • Black to 908 on terminal strip (fig. 1.2)
    • When installing cable connections, use dielectric grease of NLGI viscosity grade 2 to minimize the potential for water intrusion shorting the sensor signal or corroding the pins.
    • Reapply whenever cable is disconnected from sensor.

Control Cabinet Wiring

    • Connect the wires to the sensor
      • Place a small amount of dielectric grease at the end of the sensor before installing the M12 cable connection
      • Tighten the cable connection (hand tighten only)

Electric Drive Motor Connection – Performed by Qualified Electrician #

  • 3/4 hp Electric Drive Motor
    • Wire 3ph power to the 3/4 hp electric drive motor (3ph power needed is chosen by the customer at the time of order)
    • 208V or 480V
    • Connect the driver side 3/4 hp electric motor
    • Connect to 1VT1, 1VT2, 1VT3 and terminal strip (fig. 2)
    • Connect the passenger side 3/4 hp electric motor
    • Connect to 2VT1, 2VT2, 2VT3 and terminal strip (fig. 2)

Control Box Electrical Connection – Performed by Qualified Electrician #

  • Connecting the 3 phase power for 3/4 hp electric motors
    • Connect 3 phase power to the disconnect in the upper left-hand corner of the control panel (fig. 4)

    • Connect 120vac to the 120L1, 120LN, and ground terminal located in wheelblastIT control box (fig. 5)

Tunnel Controller Connection #

  • Connecting the conveyors run signal (Relay CR2)
    • 120vac Tunnel Controller
      • Run the conveyor signal to terminal 304
    • 24 ac/dc Tunnel Controller
      • Run the conveyor signal to terminal 104
    • Motor Starter
      • If using a motor starter for the conveyor, it would be the control voltage for the A1 connection on the coil of the motor starter
    • VFD
      • If using a VFD, the connection at the VFD is most likely a “dry contact”
      • Please contact technical support and be prepared to explain how your tunnel controller connects to the VFD
    • 120vac Common Voltage
      • Run the common wire to 120LN terminal strip
    • 24 ac/dc Common Voltage
      • Run the common wire to 102 terminal strip
  • Setting up a wheelblastIT function in the tunnel controller (Relay CR1)
    • Begin by assigning the wheelblastIT its own function in the tunnel controller (if needed, contact your tunnel controller provider for assistance)
    • Enter the distance from your tire switch to the wheel blaster spray nozzles
    • Subtract 12” and set that value in the tunnel controller
    • Enter the length in which the function will be on (approximately 12”)
    • Assign output relay in tunnel controller that will be used (if needed, contact your tunnel controller provider for assistance)
    • Connect output wiring from tunnel controller to innovateIT control cabinet (just like an air or water solenoid)
    • Connect the “hot” wire off output relay in tunnel controller to terminal strip #303 for 120vac or #103 for 24v ac/dc
    • Connect the “neutral/common” wire from tunnel controller to terminal strip 120LN for 120vac or #102 for 24v ac/dc

Pump/Solenoid Electrical Connection #

  • Only needed if innovateIT control cabinet is controlling water for the wheelblastIT
  • Connect constant control power from tunnel controller to terminal strip #307 for 120vac or terminal strip #107 for 24v ac/dc
  • If using a VFD to run a pump and not using a solenoid
    • Connect “hot wire” to motor starter/solenoid to terminal strip #1700
    • Wire “com” of VFD for run command to terminal strip #307/107
    • Wire “run/fwd” of VFD for run command to terminal strip #1700

Water Connection #

  • Connect the HP water hose from the wheelblastIT energy chain to your high-pressure pumping station (not included)
    • Pumping station requires 10-12 gpm @ 800psi
    • Recommended: (1) ¾” stainless steel line from pumping station to the location of the wheelblastIT, then split  to (2) ½” lines extending to each assembly

Internet Connections #

  • The Tosibox will provide the innovateIT technical support staff remote access to your wheelblastIT control system

  • Connect ethernet cable from your router or network switch to the Tosibox port indicated by the red arrow
